Andy and Jean in June of 1958, when Jean was awarded a doctorate in linguistics and psychology at Radcliffe/Harvard University in Cambridge. Andy attended the ceremony as a representative of the Harvard Department of Mathematics, where he had already become a tenured full professor (without a PhD).
