- Barry Mazur was awarded the 2022 Chern Medal for his profound discoveries in topology, arithmetic geometry and number theory, and for his leadership and generosity in forming the next generation of mathematicians. The Chern Medal is an international award recognizing outstanding lifelong achievement of the highest level in the field of mathematics. The prize is given at the International Congress of Mathematicians (held every four years).
