Ogg at the piano at Olden Farm, the Director's Residence of the IAS, during the Celebration In Honor of the Frank C. and Florence S. Ogg Professorship at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey (October, 2022). Standing in the doorway are Camillo de Lellis and his wife Lorenza. Phil Griffiths observes from a chair by the lamp; Jacob Lurie, John Duncan and Winnie Li are seated on the sofa (left to right, respectively). Michael and Roseanne Magada are standing to the right of the piano.
The piano originally belonged to Albert Einstein, who purchased it in Berlin from the manufacturer C. Bechstein Pianofortefabrik. When Einstein fled Germany in 1933, he had the piano shipped to the US, and it now resides as a permanent fixture—and a celebrity in its own right—at Olden Farm.
The novelist Pia de Jong, who lived at Olden Farm for a little over ten years with her husband, former IAS Director Robbert Dijkgraaf (2011–2022), wrote about the piano here.
