Yvonne Choquet-Bruhat is one of the outstanding mathematicians of this last century. She pioneered the modern mathematical study of Einstein’s theory of gravitation — general relativity — and since the early 1950s has made fundamental contributions in a wide variety of areas in mathematical relativity. In addition to this work, Yvonne Choquet-Bruhat has done outstanding work in many areas in geometric analysis, differential geometry and the analysis of partial differential equations. Last but not least, Yvonne has provided an exceptional role model for female mathematicians. We are very proud to present these essays from admiring friends in honor of Yvonne’s upcoming 100th birthday in December, 2023.
