The New Zealand Royal Society honored Vaughan by creating
the Jones Medal. It was first awarded on November 10, 2010 and
Vaughan is shown here presenting the award, which was given to John Butcher for his work on numerical methods for solving differential equations and and for his leadership in developing the mathematical sciences in New Zealand.
